What is an automotive relay? An automotive relay is an electronic or electromechanical device that provides the ideal solutions to various high voltage automotive applications, motors for fans, window lifters, auxiliary lamps, fog horns, head lamps, heated rear window, such as air conditioners, or various other vehicle equipment. In the similar way, it is easy to switch a heavy electrical load that draws heavy current on and off by using a small amount of current through a coil. The reaction is this- Due to the current, the coil becomes magnetizes and either attracts or repels a plunger. This repelling or attracting of the plunger either separates two switching contacts in the relay or connects them. The main contacts instantly go back to their normal position once the process of the coil is stopped. In the case of automotive applications, relays with single or multiple contacts having different configurations are used for different applications.
